Jesus' Crown of thorns, symbol of penitential lifestyle. We are committed to living the Franciscan Rule of 1221. We aren't a Third Order but a Lay Catholic Association. ...weaving a crown of thorns,
they placed it on Him. (Mk 15:17)

Welcome to

The Franciscan Association of The Brothers and Sisters of Penance of St.Francis (BSP) has a butterfly as its symbol. The Butterfly means the transforming union that we wish to attain, through a life of prayer, simplicity and self-denial. The BSP mottos are: 'Deny yourself, take your cross and follow me' and 'In the world, but not of it, for Christ'

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again. from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me Lord in your kindness,
In your compassion blot out my offense,
Wash me more and more from my guilt,
And cleanse me from my sin.

My offenses, truly I know them,
My sin is always before me,
Against you, you alone have I sinned.
What Is evil in your sight I have done.

That you may be justified when you give sentence,
And be without reproach when you judge.
Oh, see in guilt I was born,
A sinner was I conceived.

Indeed you love truth in the heart,
Then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom,
O purify me and I shall be clean,
O wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear rejoicing and gladness,
That the bones you crushed may revive,
From my sins turn away your face
And blot out all my guilt.

A pure heart create for me, O God,
Put a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
Nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help;
With a spirit of fervor sustain me,
That I may teach transgressors your ways
And sinners may return to you.

O rescue me, God, my helper,
And my tongue shall ring out your goodness.
O Lord, open my lips
And my mouth shall declare your praise.

For in sacrifice you take no delight,
Burnt offerings from me you would refuse,
My sacrifice, a contrite spirit,
A humbled, contrite heart you will not spurn.

In your goodness, show favor to Zion:
Rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with lawful sacrifice,
Holocausts offered on your altar.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm 54

O God, by Your name save me, and by Your might defend my cause.
O God, hear my prayer; hearken to the words of my mouth.
For haughty men have risen up against me, and fierce men seek my life;
they set not God before their eyes.

Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord sustains my life.
Turn back the evil upon my foes;
in your faithfulness destroy them.

Freely will I offer You sacrifice;
I will praise Your name, O Lord, for its goodness,
Because from all distress You have rescued me,
and my eyes look down upon my enemies.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm 119: Verses 1-32

Happy are they whose way is blameless,
who walk by the law of the Lord.
Happy are they who observe His decrees,
who seek Him with all their heart,
And do no wrong, but walk in His ways.
You have commanded that Your precepts be diligently kept.
Oh, that I might be firm in the ways of keeping Your statutes!
Then I should not be put to shame
when I beheld all Your commands.
I will give You thanks with an upright heart,
when I have learned Your just ordinances.
I will keep Your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me.

How shall a young man be faultless in his way?
By keeping to Your words.
With all my heart I seek You;
let me not stray from Your commands.
Within my heart I treasure Your promise,
that I may not sin against You.
Blessed are You, O Lord,
teach me Your statutes.
With my lips I declare all the ordinances of Your mouth.
In the way of Your decrees I rejoice,
as much as in all riches.
I will meditate on Your precepts
and consider Your ways.
In Your statutes I will delight;
I will not forget Your words.

Be good to Your servant, that I may live and keep Your words.
Open my eyes, that I may consider the wonders of Your law.
I am a wayfarer of earth; hide not Your commands from me.
My soul is consumed with longing for Your ordinances at all times.
You rebuke the accursed proud,
who turn away from Your commands.
Take away from me Your reproach and contempt,
for I observe Your decrees.
Though princes meet and talk against me,
Your servant mediates on Your statutes.
Yes, Your decrees are my delight; they are my counselors.

I lie prostrate in the dust;
give me life according to Your word.
I declared my ways, and You answered me,
teach me Your statutes.
Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
and I will meditate on Your wonderous deeds.
My soul weeps for sorrow;
strengthen me according to Your words.
Remove from me the way of falsehood,
and favor me with Your law.
The way of truth I have chosen;
I have set Your ordinances before me.
I cling to Your decrees;
O Lord, let me not be put to shame.
I will run the way of Your commands
when you give me a docile heart.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
